Retro Sketches 154 Challenge

I really love card crafting, but I haven't done much heat embossing. Today I wanted to try my new White embossing powder from Close To My Heart for this Retro Sketches Challenge

The stamps are from the Thanks a bunch collection. While there are so many more cute elements to this set, I decided to use just a couple of them for this simple sketch.

I cut my A2 size card stock for a 4.25" square card. Using my VersaMark stamp pad, I stamped the design on black and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. The sentiment was stamped on white stock, embossed and colored it by using Lagoon ink and a sponge. I mounted a similar piece of white behind it so that it would stand out a little more.

A little embellishment was next on the list. I took one of the smaller stamps from the set, embossed it, and colored it with a Cherry Pink marker. I just love the markers from CTMH. The color is so vibrant. Using a one inch circle punch I cut it out and adhered to the card with a piece of foam tape so it would stand out a bit from the card.

I've been trying to learn embossing techniques and ways to keep embossing powder where it is supposed to be. In the end, I think the static from our dry cold weather wasn't helping me too much. I still ended up with some little bits in places I didn't want it to go. All in all I really enjoyed this challenge. I learned a few new things and I filled my need to have a few more Thank you cards in the card stash.

Have a wonderful day!
